Beale
Street Band Members
Ed Langille
- Vocals
Ed is the founder and leader of the Beale Street Band
which began in 1997. Ed has been singing R&B, Rock and Blues for longer
than he cares to remember! His earliest influence was Ray
Charles. More recently Delbert McClinton, Gregg Allman and
Warren Haynes have been of influence and Ed's vocal qualities
reflect these influences. In 2000, Ed made an appearance at
Symphony Hall. He has also appeared at the Grog with Parker Wheeler
and Friend’s as well as with Harvey Robbins’ Rock & Roll All-Stars on
many occasions. Ed is very passionate and intense about his singing
and it shows in his performances.
Mike
Lepine
- Guitar
Mike
is an original Beale Street
band member. He has been playing guitar for over 20 years and
credits his initial desire to play to listening to his 2 older
brothers. Others that have influenced Mike's playing include Jimmy
Page, Johnny Winter and Neil Young with later influences of Muddy
Waters, Lightin’ Hopkins, Otis Rush, Albert King, Freddie King, & B.
B. King. Mike basically takes a straight forward approach to
playing. He has a natural intensity and emotion which shows in
his playing and makes him enjoyable to watch.
Jay MacNevin
- Drums
Jay
began playing professionally at age 17.
During the mid 70's and 80's he toured the Northeast & Canada with a
wide variety of artists. While at Berklee College of Music Jay
formed the band "Labels" with Reeves Gabrels of David Bowie's "Tin
Machine". Jay has recorded over 50 commercial jingles for national
and regional accounts in Boston and New York studios. Jay has
played with Boston Baked Blues, James Montgomery and John Lincoln
Wright and now Beale Street audiences enjoy his solid ‘in the
pocket’ style.
John Germanotta
- Bass
John has been
playing music since he was a child. A versatile musician,
playing several instruments, he began with classical training on the
violin which enabled him to develop a trained ear for many different
genres of music. He started playing guitar at 14, and moved on
to bass from there. John has played in different types of
bands including Reggae, Avant-Garde Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Rock as
well as others. John has played in bands in and around Boston,
particularly in the Metrowest area, with Too Many Strings, Blues
Masons, Blue Hurricane, Fat Lotta Good, and most recently 2 Tone
Pony prior to joining Beale Street. As much as John loves all
instruments, bass is the most spiritual to him. "It is the
instrument that literally rattles the bones."
